Workplace Bullying
I have been through the most amazing four months. In October, I decided enough was enough and I courageously stood up
to a bully-a school leader! Yes! I had suffered torment and derision-for more than a year. I simply could
not abide the abuse any longer. And that is what bullying on the job is-abuse. I visited my doctor and yes (no
surprise!)-my blood pressure was elevated. I was suffering-through no fault of my own. Have you been there?
Are you too suffering? If you are a school employee you probably are protected by your state. Here in Florida,
students and employees are protected by the "Jeffrey Johnston Stand Up For All Students Act." This act protects
students from bullying-and it protects employees. I used it. I stood up. You can too.
In my time away from the abusive workplace, I did a lot of research. Wow. I will tell you that we are not alone
in our suffering! People are suffering and sadly those in corporate America, have NO RECOURSE! It is unbelievable that
workplace abuse is LEGAL! It is not however, in public schools. So-this: Know your rights. Document everything.
And be courageous. Until next time......Kim
